In the beautiful mountains of Virginia/Tennessee, one can find the roots of Country Music and spend a half day learning and enjoying the genre's beginnings.

This museum boasts an affiliation with the Smithsonian Institution and tells the story of the 1927 Bristol recording sessions.
The ground floor offers the gift store and Songwriters Museum. Plenty of great Songwriters are mentioned here, though I have added just a few to the blog.

The ground floor was great, and I hadn’t even begun to enjoy the information on the second level.
The elevator can take you to the second floor. I opted for the stairs to enjoy the art. The first floor is interesting. However, you do not want to miss the second-floor information.
I had great fun howling along in the sound booth. (I hope it was soundproof!) People who know me can attest that I sing flat. I sing best in the shower, or the car with the volume turned up.
I enjoyed the interactive displays and the historical movie. The staff was friendly, which always added to the adventure.
I was as impressed with the museum as I was with the split city of Bristol. If you are passing through, I recommend touring the city.
